ARTIST STATEMENT
Moving from Los Angeles a few years ago, I realized that recycling our voluminous moving boxes could be a new “canvas” for my art. The industrial, textured nature of the cardboard contrasts with the fluid movement of the paint. I’ve combined impulse with sustainability, channeling discarded materials into creative energy.
I don’t plan my paintings. I let each layer of paint dictate the brushstrokes, reacting to the textures and colors on the surface. The physical act of painting guides the layers of line work and brushstrokes. This creates unexpected textures and interactions that cannot be replicated, transforming the canvas while recording movement and emotion, capturing an energy that is chaotic and alive.
